Aleksandra Matic Sanchiher holds a B.A. in Art History from Lake Forest College and an M.A.
in Art History, Theory, and Criticism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, focusing
on modern and contemporary art from India and Gender Studies.
During an 18-year tenure at the Art Institute of Chicago, her roles included growing and
revitalizing the member and donor travel programs and overseeing the museum’s legacy society
as the Associate Director of Donor Travel and the Director of the Buckingham Society. Other
positions she has held include Membership Manager at the University Club of Chicago and
Associate Director of Alumni Travel and Lifelong Learning at Yale University. She is currently
the Program Manager for the University Club of Chicago, where she oversees arts programming
and the Club’s notable collection of contemporary art, including its remarkable collection of
work by the Chicago Imagists, Monster Roster, and Hairy Who.
She was the recipient of a 2022-2023 Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship to India and continues to
work with the hereditary artists of Nathdwara to preserve the 400-year-old tradition of pichvai
painting. Matic serves on the Emeritus Board for the Educational Travel Consortium and the
Board of Core of Culture. She volunteers for the Artists of Nathdwara and Center on Halsted.
