The Project

Architectural Digest India approached the artists about creating a work for the annual art issue to celebrate the richness of the 300+-year-old tradition of pichvai painting in Nathdwara. The idea was to do a collaborative cover by esteemed artist and co-founder of the Artists of Nathdwara Suresh Sharma and renowned designer and collector Vikram Goyal. The issue would also feature an editorial spread by Dr. Madhuvanti Ghose, Alsdorf Associate Curator of Indian, Southeast Asian, and Himalayan Art, Arts of Asia, at the Art Institute of Chicago with photography by Mumbai-based photographer Hashim Badani.
